So what are the 7 Wonders of the World?

  1. Chichen Itza (Mexico)- A well-known archaeological site about 3 hours away from Cancun.
  2. Machu Pichu (Peru)- A site of an old Inca ruins deep in the mountains of Peru.
  3. Christ the Redeemer (Brazil)- A giant statue of Jesus in Rio de Janeiro.
  4. Petra (Jordan)- A famous rock cut architecture about 4 hours by bus from Amman.
  5. The Colloseum (Italy)- An area where the gladiators used to fight for over 650 years.
  6. The Great Wall of China- Built to protect China from outside aggression and the main section of the wall in Badaling is only about 1 hour away by train from Beijing
  7. The Taj Mahal (India)- A palace built for Shah Jahan’s deceased wife only about 230 kilometers from New Delhi.

Let’s look closer and I’ll begin with my favourite one to visit and work my way down

  1. Taj Mahal

I loved absolutely everything about my inital trip to India. We began the Agra trip by taking a tuk-tuk to the train station and then took the train from New Delhi to Agra. We then took a tour around Agra and some of the historical areas, before stopping for some traditional food and taking some trips to the local gift shops to buy souvenirs. Then, onto Agra Fort, where we got our first glimpse of the Taj Mahal and walked around the gardens before going inside to see the burial place of Shah Jahan and his wife.

2. Machu Pichu

I started by landing in Cusco from Lima, the capital city in Peru, and took a bus to the downtown region and got a bus to the train station in a place called Ollantaytambo. Then I took the train to Machu Pichu through the valleys, the train provided food and entertainment all the way there with some performances. The next day I took a bus to the top of the mountain and hiked for a bit. There were a couple of natural hot springs nearby relatively close to the bottom of the mountain. It was one of the coolest experiences and everything about that day was surreal.

3. Great Wall of China –

The Badaling section is the best preserved and most visited. We began by going to Beijing, the capital city of China and then took a train to the main section of the wall.We took a cablecar up to the top of the mountain and then began our hike up to the top of the wall with some scenic views each side.

Chichen Itza

Really fun day out and our tour included a lot, even a buffet dinner and swimming in a cave. The location was really nice, only 3 hours by bus from Cancun, one of the most visited places in Mexico. The area is really relaxing and our guide was helpful at all times. I went on an organised tour and the tour departed early from Cancun and we got back reasonably late.

Petra

5. Petra- It was a fun day out and well worth visiting and getting some good views of the ruins and walking around the location. I landed in Amman, the capital of Jordan, and took a bus to Petra which took a few hours. The surrounding area is really worth visiting a lot of great Middle Eastern food nearby.

The Colloseum

6- The Colloseum- Well worth going inside and taking a trip along the historical parts. Rome is a great city and plenty of transportation options to get around, make sure you book your ticket in advance to avoid disappointment or paying huge fees once arrived.

Christ the Redeemer

Right in the heart of Rio De Janeiro.Try to go early in the morning and when it’s less cloudy to get some better views of Rio. I took a bus all the way to the top of the mountain and spent a majority of my day up there. There were a couple of restaurants nearby and the usual gift shops, coffee shops, etc….
