I was always interested in going to Greenland, mainly because it takes up a large chunk of the world map, the largest island in the world which is an impressive accolade. Getting to Greenland was reasonably easy, but leaving was the main problem!

Getting there- 2 options, flights from Reykjavik in Iceland or from Copenhagen in Denmark, I went from Iceland because it was closer and less expensive.

Getting in- Greenland is just an extended part of Denmark so no visa is needed when entering from the EU, but I think they are looking to gain independence soon and also Donald Trump was and maybe still is looking to negotiate a deal and purchase the island and make it an extended part of the USA.

Nuuk is the capital city and a majority of the population live there.It’s a small city with freezing temperatures, the coldest place that I’ve ever visited, I went in January, right in the middle of winter, temperatures were so bad, they had to close the roads and the airport soon after I had arrived, even boats were not allowed to depart, which happens a lot nowadays with climate change linked to colder weather conditions. So I spent a couple of extra days in Greenland, stuck indoors and unsure about when I could depart, eventually 2 days later back to Iceland.

I’d recommend it, if you have a couple of days to spare. It was a cool experience, don’t get me wrong, it was a bit pricey, even the everyday groceries in the local supermarket, but taking prices out the it, definitely a place that I wouldn’t mind returning to.
