MALAYSIA’S CAPITAL CITY

I fist stepped foot in Malaysia in 2014 on my way to Australia and didn’t necessarily enjoy the trip. I ran into a couple of problems with my Couchsurfing host at the time and it was anything but enjoyable!During that 2014 trip, I spent some time in Little India, visited the Patronas Twin Towers and spent a lot of time walking around Kuala Lumpur. It wasn’t overly exciting, but ate some nice food and shopped at some nice street markets. I left Kuala Lumpur with a stale taste, little did I know that I’d be returning four more times and each trip would become better than the previous one.

The impressive Patronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur

I didn’t get to do too much sightseeing on my earlier trip, mostly because my Couchsurfing host lived far away from the city, so I knew that it was important to stay downtown. I stayed in Little India, a place that I had visited before, though this time I had a lot more time to stay in the area, explore and check out some of the exciting malls, some of the biggest malls that I’d ever seen in my life with a fantastic selection of shops.

I love the culture, Malay people are mostly of Chinese or Indian ethnicity and it’s worth going just for the impressive selection of food alone.Malaysia is a really cheap place to visit, now it seems cheaper than China or even Indonesia. They offer great exchange rates, a nice Indian meal costs less than three USD and a really nice hotel on the edge of Little India costs 15 USD a night with fast internet and a big room and lots of amenities. The rest of the city is so impressive, something always happening regardless of what time of day or night it happens to be and the city is now expanding more and more every year.

Little India is always buzzing and also amazing food

To conclude, I will most definitely find my way back to Kuala Lumpur at some stage again in the future. Most of the cheaper flights run through Kuala Lumpur Airport, one of the best airports in the world, constant fast Wifi, great selection of restaurants, and a great selection of shops and friendly local people.

So many things to do in Little India
