I’ve always wanted to visit the equator and decided to take a trip to Mitad Del Mundo, the most visited attraction in Ecuador during my trip to South America in 2023. This was my first time visiting the equator and it turned out to be one of my favourite memories in South America. The equator is located close to Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, and there are numerous tours available at different parts of the day. There are a whole list of things to do and see at the area, for example, get some traditional food, lots of coffee shops, museums, souvenir shops and so on. It’s worth spending a few hours to explore the full area and try some of the interesting experiments.A taxi to the airport costs about 30USD.

The equator also passes through the following countries- Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil in South America, Sao Tome & Principe, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia in Africa, and The Maldives and Indonesia in Asia, and Kiribati in Oceania.

It was a fun day out. We did a couple of interesting experiments, for example, balancing an egg on a nail. The gravitational pull from the southern and northern hemisphere keeps the egg standing up.It took a couple of attempts! Also, trying to walk in a straight line without losing my balance was a difficult thing to do but proved to be fun.
